Pack up the track, Let’s Roller Skate Maitland

Maitland Regional Athletics Centre will look a tad different these April school holidays, swapping its running track for an outdoor roller skating rink for a weekend event.

The Make it Maitland Let’s Roller Skate spectacle will span three days from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 April.

Maitland City mayor Philip Penfold said the event was “back by popular demand”

“We’re thrilled to see the return of this hugely-popular activity, bigger and better than before,” he said.

“We listened to the feedback from our residents and expanded the format.

“This time we’re offering skating sessions throughout the weekend and during the day, too.

“We’ll also be theming the Saturday between 7pm and 9pm as an 80’s roller disco with a soundtrack of classic 80’s tunes, complete with 80’s video clips on the big screen.

“We’d love to see everyone dust off some of their best 80’s wear, get involved and come out for a trip down memory lane.”
