Road works scheduled at numerous Hunter locations

Following the recent wet weather, several Transport for NSW (TfNSW) projects are scheduled to take place throughout the Hunter this week.

It includes locations at Belmont South, Warners Bay and Black Hill to Tomago from Monday 13 May.

Motorists are advised of changed overnight traffic conditions on the Pacific Highway to carry out asphalt resurfacing between Blacksmiths, Marks Point and Belmont South.

To minimise the impact, the work will be carried out from 7pm to 5am on weekdays.

It’s expected to be completed in 14 nights.

“Work is planned in a single direction each shift, with a lane open either northbound or southbound,” a TfNSW spokesperson said.

“Minor traffic stops may be required for up to five minutes.

“Access to the Pacific Highway may be temporarily restricted from some side streets for short durations during the work.

“However, it’ll still be available from alternative streets.

“Traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.”

Maintenance work is also slated along The Esplanade at Warners Bay.

One southbound slow lane will be temporarily closed for slope remediation.

Work is being carried out from 7pm to 5am, Sunday to Thursday, and expected to take up to six weeks.

Site establishment and demobilisation will occur from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and between 8am and 1pm on Saturdays.

Meanwhile, construction continues for the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace.

From Monday 13 May, work will be carried out to implement traffic changes and will require the closure of the John Renshaw Drive slip lane westbound from New England Highway between 7pm and 5am.

All Over Size Over Mass (OSOM) vehicles intending to travel through the site are required to call ahead on 0423 323 946 (or 0455 465 321) at least 30 minutes beforehand.

“Those greater than the restricted width should expect short delays during this work,” the spokesperson said.

“As a result, there will be changed traffic conditions on the New England Highway westbound including the reduction of John Renshaw Drive slip lane to one lane from Wednesday 15 May, with the new traffic arrangements in place until Friday 27 September.”

Work is arranged at the following locations, too:

  • Pacific Highway northbound and southbound lane closures from 7pm and 5am, Monday 13 May to Friday 17 May
  • Lenaghans Drive alternating northbound and southbound lane and shoulder closure from 7am to 5pm, Monday 13 May and Tuesday 14 May
  • M1 Pacific Motorway northbound and southbound lane closure and speed reduction to 40km from 7pm to 5am, Monday 13 May to Friday 17 May
  • New England Highway Tarro offramp exit eastbound only will be closed from 7pm Monday 13 May to 5am Tuesday 14 May. Eastbound motorists will be directed to continue on the New England Highway to Hexham Bridge, where they can turn under the bridge and return along the highway westbound to the Anderson Drive exit to Tarro.

“Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and follow the directions of signs and traffic controllers,” the spokesperson said.

“We thank everyone for their patience during this time.”
