Cheers to Tinshed beer and recycled fashion in Dungog

SHARE

New flavours of craft beer, preloved fashion and untold treasures – it might be time you rediscovered Dungog this weekend.

In keeping with the growing conscious consumerism trend of buying second-hand, Dungog friends Donna Lean and Amanda Marsh are hosting a pre-loved fashion market on Dowling Street.

The pair has pulled together a number of sellers for the event that will run on both Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 2pm.

It follows the success of their inaugural 2022 market that was deemed a huge success by all attendees.

Donna and Amanda believe second-hand shopping is now more important than ever given it is good for both the planet and the finances.

In fact, research by Reluv, an online fashion retailer, has revealed that about 75% of Australians purchased used clothing last year.

And, according to the brand’s Fashion Resale Report 2022, economic considerations follow sustainability as the primary two motivators of second-hand clothing purchases.

“Conscious consumerism is certainly a growing market and something many in our region are very passionate about,” Amanda says.

“We’re thrilled to be able to bring women together from both within and outside of the region to connect, and for that thrill of finding the perfect pre-loved bargain.”

The Women’s Preloved Fashion Market will take place at 56 Dowling Street on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 April.

Clothing on offer includes casual and formal dresses, tops, skirts, shorts and jeans, pants, jackets, accessories, vintage, new and used items.

Items will range in size from six to 16, with Eftpos available from 9am to 2pm.

Tinshed Brewery, Dungog

Tinshed Brewery is also set to celebrate this weekend, with the popular watering hole launching two new brews – Lillypilly and Fingerlime.

That’s enough reason for the venue to supply free tunes by The Smokin J’s from 4pm on Saturday.

It’s also worth getting in early to Anglican Church Markets in Dungog from 8am to 1pm.

The long-running feel-good weekly market, held on the first Saturday of each month, offers the chance to find a treasure in the form of art, craftworks, local cooking, jewellery, cakes, slices and plants.

The market is located in the Church grounds at the corner of Dowling and Chapman Streets.
