SHARE

A teenager has had his driver’s licence confiscated by police after being caught travelling 45km over the limit in the region at the weekend.

Officers from Hunter Valley Highway Patrol clocked the 17-year-old male driver at 129km/hr, in a signposted 80km/hr zone, about 5.25pm on Saturday 12 November.

The police, attached to the Cessnock Highway Patrol, were patrolling Mandalong Road, Mandalong, when they detected the silver Honda Accord at high speed.

Upon stopping the vehicle, it was established the teen was the holder of a New South Wales class C provisional 1 licence, which he had only held for two months.

As a result of the incident, his licence was immediately suspended for six months.

He was also issued a penalty notice for exceeding the speed by more than 45km/hr.
