A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner after a woman died in hospital following a single-vehicle crash at Morisset last week.
About 6.40pm on Friday 6 January, emergency services were called to Fishery Point Road.
It followed information that a Holden Commodore sedan had left the road and struck a tree.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle – a 43-year-old woman – was trapped in the wreckage, before being released by NSW Fire and Rescue personnel.
She was taken to John Hunter Hospital, where she remained until she died on Monday 9 January.
Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District have started inquiries into the crash.
