Changed traffic conditions throughout Hunter

SHARE

Motorists can expect to experience changed traffic conditions throughout the Hunter over the next fortnight, according to Transport for NSW (TfNSW).

Construction work is scheduled to be carried out on the New England Highway, in preparation for the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace.

It will require lane closures and temporary speed reductions from 8pm to 5am from Monday 8 to Friday 12 January at the following locations:

Pacific Highway northbound lane closure.
  • Pacific Highway southbound lane closure from Hunter Region Botanic Gardens to Tomago Road
  • Pacific Highway northbound lane closure between Old Punt Road and Tomago Road
  • New England Highway/Maitland Road westbound lane closure
New England Highway Maitland Road westbound lane closure.

Meanwhile, multiple bridges along the Hunter Expressway, between Seahampton and Lower Belford, will also be impacted due to maintenance.

Single lane closures are required for cleaning and drainage operations, which will be staged at various locations over 16 nights.

“The work will help provide a safer and cleaner motorway for road users,” a TfNSW spokesperson said.

“So, to minimise impacts to motorists, it’ll be carried out from 7pm to 4am weekdays from Monday 8 January.

“It is expected to be completed in 16 nights, weather permitting.

“Traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.

“We’re advising people to allow extra travel time at all areas mentioned and follow the directions.

“Transport for NSW thanks everyone for their patience during this time.”
