Body of missing woman located near waterway at Kahibah

A large-scale search to locate a missing woman from the Lake Macquarie area has ended in tragedy on Friday.

Vicki Davey, aged 63, was last contacted about 11.30am on Wednesday 1 May.

When no one could get in touch with her, officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District were notified and began inquiries into her whereabouts as family members held serious concerns for her welfare.

At the time, police believed Ms Davey may have gone for a walk in the Glenrock State Conservation Area, due to her being seen wearing jeans, a jumper and joggers.

Sadly, following a three-day multi-agency operation, which included the NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES), the body of a woman was found near a waterway at Kahibah about noon on Friday 3 May.

While yet to be formally identified, it is understood to be Ms Davey.

A report is now being prepared for the information of the Coroner.
