Christmas Under the Stars back on festive calendar

SHARE

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and if you are looking to embrace a little extra festive spirit, Christmas Under the Stars will provide that in Newcastle next month.

Supported by Newcastle Permanent and staged in King Edward Park, the free event is scheduled to take place on Saturday 17 December, kicking off at 5pm.

Local artists including Newcastle musicians Kylie Jane, Joy Trio, The Vanguard Players and many others will sing your favourite carols.

For the kids, there’ll be plenty of fun activities and a much-loved Christmas movie starting just after sundown, The Grinch (G), with popcorn to enjoy along with it.

Various food trucks will deliver a selection of delicious treats drink options, or you are welcome to bring your own picnic dinner to enjoy within the beauty of King Edward Park.

The venue offers everyone the perfect location to soak up the Christmas atmosphere, too.

Some other special guests are sure to make an appearance including a jolly man in a big red suit.

Newcastle Permanent CEO Bernadette Inglis can’t wait to start up this Hunter tradition once again for the first time since 2019.

“It’s always such a great night – singing carols, sharing popcorn and watching a family-friendly Christmas movie,” she explained.

“We’re so delighted to be bringing it back.

“There’s nothing quite like an Australian Christmas.

“So, be sure to bring the entire family to be part of what promises to be our best Christmas Under the Stars yet.

“It will mark the start of our annual Cinema Under the Stars tour of regional NSW.”

There’ll also be a free shuttle bus service, with details to follow on the Newcastle Permanent Facebook page.
