Thursday 4th April: Vehicle crashes in Williamtown and roadworks in Hexham are causing traffic chaos in the Hunter this morning, with motorists urged to take care and drive to conditions to avoid further delays.

Late finishing road works are being blamed for delays on Hexham Bridge this morning, with a crash near Fern Bay adding to the stress.

And then there’s the rain.

Motorists are reporting waiting hours to travel through Hexham and Raymond Terrace, with Mayfield and the inner city bypass also causing delays.

Travelling between Wallsend and Cameron Park took one motorist an hour at around 8am this morning.

With up to 90mm of rain forecast for the remainder of the day, motorists are being urged to slow down and be patient behind the wheel.
