Speaker Series to shine light on acclaimed author visits

SHARE

April is shaping up to be a bestselling month for acclaimed authors to visit Singleton with a prestigious line up culminating in a coup with Peter FitzSimons talking about his new book, The Last Charge of the Australian Light Horse, on the eve of Anzac Day.

Sally Warriner, author of Not Just the Wife of the General Manager, will kick off a month of reading on Friday 5 April, while renowned crime writer Candice Fox will round out April’s line up on Thursday 11 April with a talk about her new book, Devil’s Kitchen.

It’s all part of Singleton Public Library’s Singleton Speaker Series—and best of all, all three visits are free for everyone to come along.

Vicki Brereton, Singleton Council’s Director Organisation and Community Capacity, said the program was a wonderful way for local readers to connect with their favourite writers, right here in Singleton.

Candice Fox and Peter FitzSimons will appear at Singleton Civic Centre to accommodate bigger audiences.

“We all know the magic that reading can bring to everyone as a gateway to history, personal true stories, fantastical worlds and even the dark underworld of crime,” Mrs Brereton said.

“Meeting with the authors of our favourite books is a wonderful opportunity to delve a little further into their knowledge and imaginations, and discover the stories behind the stories.

“We’re so fortunate that Singleton is a favourite destination for many of our most celebrated writers, and I’m looking forward to seeing lots of people enjoy our Singleton Speakers series this April and in the months to follow.”
