In another bid to assist businesses in the CBD, Maitland City Council will host the return of a popular initiative this weekend.
Most enterprises suffered a major hit during the pandemic, with many still struggling to fully bounce back from the COVID-enforced lockdowns of the past two years.
But, council is banking on The Leveeās annual One Day Sale to reinvigorate the retail sector on Saturday 2 July, with discounts and exclusive offers available in 39 stores across the precinct.
From comic books and handcrafted chocolate to toys and the latest fashion, thereās something for all ages and appetites during the much-loved promotion.
And, by spending $20 or more at a participating outlet, shoppers score a shot at snagging the ultimate prize ā a $5,000 āshopping spreeā at participating stores in The Levee.
Maitland City mayor Philip Penfold said initiatives like the One Day Sale, and the recent Family Getaway Package, were a āgreat way to drum up local support for local businessesā.
āItās important for both council and the community to get behind Maitland operators and put money back into the economy,ā he explained.
āAnd, what better way to encourage buying local than a day out in Central Maitland, at one of the many stores in The Levee?
āWallets past windows create an increased opportunity for spend ā while thereās a terrific cash prize to give away, too.ā
It follows on from the hugely-successful After Dark: A Midwinterās Night on Saturday evening.
The free event boasted roving street acts, fire dancers, drummers, music and a light show as well as food and drink stalls.
āIt was terrific to see so many people out and enjoying The Levee precinct,ā Cr Penfold said.
āThe feedbackās been fantastic.ā
