Two men, including an OMCG member, have been charged in the Hunter region with drug offences following a three-month investigation.

In October 2022, detectives attached to the State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad kicked off Strike Force Jellingal to delve into the alleged supply of methylamphetamine in Sydney’s west.

Following inquiries, a 52-year-old male was arrested by Newcastle-Hunter Traffic and Highway Patrol officers for an unrelated offence on Monday 16 January.

He remains bail-refused in relation to this offence.

After additional investigations, Strike Force Jellingal detectives attended Newcastle Police Station on Tuesday 14 February, where the man was charged with six offences, including supply indictable and large commercial quantities prohibited drug, and possess prohibited drug.

He then appeared at Newcastle Local Court.

There, he was formally refused bail and will remain remanded in custody to reappear at the same court on Wednesday 12 April.

Strike Force Jellingal detectives – assisted by Hunter Valley Police District – also arrested a 36-year-old man during a vehicle stop on Maitland Road, Cessnock, about 4.45pm on Tuesday 7 February.

He was taken to Cessnock Police Station and charged with supply indictable quantity prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear at Cessnock Local Court the following day, where he was formally bail-refused to reappear at the same court on Wednesday 22 February.

Police will allege in court the older man – who’s a member of the Life and Death Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) – and the younger male – an associate of the same club – supplied methylamphetamine on a number of occasions between November 2022 and January 2023.

Anyone with information about illicit drug supply and manufacture is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.
