A Newcastle man admitted he hasn’t slept more than a few minutes here and there since discovering he’d bagged an incredible $1.8 million win in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.
The local resident held one of the three division one winning entries, drawn on 11 March.
Each collected $1,845,890.33.
“Oh mate! This is amazing, I won’t be knocking back this win,” he laughed when an official from The Lott called to confirm his success.
“I haven’t slept all that much since I discovered the win.
“There’s just so many thoughts running through my head.
“To be honest, I was expecting to win a lot less than I have.
“I’m in complete shock.
“I’ll do my best to celebrate accordingly.
“I’m staring at my TV right now… and I think it’s time I upgraded that.
“I’ve got a car, but I might go and get two more. Who knows?
“My wife and I are growing older, too, so it might be time to make some renovations to our home.
“I can’t decide.
“There are so many things I could do with this.
“Thank you so much.”
The winning man’s 10-game QuickPick entry was purchased at the Stockland Shopping Centre, East Maitland.
Greenhills Newsagency owner Allen Kavanagh said he’d sold a number of division one winning entries in his time, but the feeling of helping someone in the community never got old.
“It’s always incredible to know we’ve played a part in changing someone’s life,” he explained.
“We’re all over the moon for our customer and wish them all the best.
“I hope they celebrate this incredible win and have a fantastic time spending their prize.”
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4345 were 9, 4, 42, 10, 29 and 1, while the supplementaries were 17 and 7.
