Lake Mac’s $600m luxury marina gets go ahead

SHARE

Morisset could be home to a new $600 million luxury resort as soon as 2027 after Johnson Property Group won approval to build Trinity Point earlier this month.

The 5-star resort will comprise 180 apartments, a 218-key hotel, function centre, serviced apartments and two 300-seat restaurants.

Trinity Point is expected to draw visitors from across the globe when completed.

Residents and guests will also have access to a 188-berth marina, outdoor dining, a café, business centre, pool, day spa, gymnasium, 614 basement car parking bays and several public boardwalks.

The marina itself is the largest salt water ocean connected marina on the planet and once completed will become world-class.

Rainwater harvesting and solar instalments are expected to boost sustainability of the development.

And much of the land will be accessible to the public, with trails and pedestrian footpaths across the waterfront site.

Plans sit on a 3.8-hectare waterfront property owned by Johnson Property for more than two decades.

Apartments at the luxury address began selling off plans in November 2019.

Developers engaged the help of Novocastrian beauty Jennifer Hawkins to sell what will be a luxurious Lake Macquarie landmark.

The address welcomed the 5-star restaurant ‘8 at Trinity’ in 2022, which now serves more than 1,000 diners per day.

Off the back of its opening residents were asked to provide feedback on building plans in a proposal published by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) in November 2022.

The designs and dimensions were on public display at Morisset Library for one month.

Developers blamed the then-Perrottet government for unnecessary setbacks that caused a three-year delay.

They had already been stalled years earlier by COVID-19.

Earlier this month the Minns government agreed to fast-track the project.

The group is now working on a design construction certificate and will send out a tender to start building in 2025.

Hopes are that the project will be completed by the end of 2027.
