When a Lake Macquarie woman received a message to contact The Lott, she assumed she’d made a mistake on her Saturday Lotto entry.
The local resident never suspected she’d scored a division one prize worth more than $823,000.
But, she was one of the seven winning entries in the Saturday draw, 4323, on 24 December.
That allowed her to pick up $823,588.63.
The winning woman was completely oblivious to her good fortune until almost a week after the draw.
And, she burst into tears when the enormity of her prize was revealed by an official from The Lott.
“You’re kidding,” she cried.
“Oh my god! I only check my tickets every fortnight. I had no idea.
“I thought I’d done something wrong.
“In fact, I thought I’d put something in wrong and that’s why you wanted to speak to me.
“Oh, I don’t know what to do other than sit here and cry.
“It’s brilliant! You’ve made our dreams come true.
“I’ve been playing the same numbers for years.
“I don’t know why I stuck with them. They don’t mean anything. But they do now.”
When asked how she might enjoy her Saturday Lotto prize, the woman declared some long-held dreams were about to become a reality for her and her husband, including potential tree change.
“This is a sign of good things to come in 2023,” she said.
Her winning marked 4-game entry was purchased at Nextra Glendale at the Stockland Centre, in Lake Road, Glendale.
The victorious numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4323 were 4, 32, 8, 39, 7 and 24, while the supplementaries were 34 and 17.
Across Australia, there were seven division one winning entries in draw 4323 – two each from Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria and one from Western Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 213 so far this financial year, including 60 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
In 2022, Saturday Lotto created 171 millionaires across Australia.
During this time, there were 330 division one winning in Saturday Lotto entries across Australia that collectively won more than $456.6 million.
