While P!nk and Taylor Swift grabbed all the media coverage recently, two major international bands also graced Aussie shores.
And, for those who love to rock, they even found their way to the Hunter at the weekend.
Rob Thomas and the boys from Matchbox Twenty hit the stage at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre on Saturday night, supported by the Goo Goo Dolls, who enjoyed worldwide success with the singles Slide and Iris from City of Angels.
The sold-out crowd was not disappointed either.
Boasting classic hits such as 3AM, Push, Bent, How Far We’ve Come, She’s So Mean, Unwell, If You’re Gone, Long Day and Mad Season in its back catalogue, the legendary group’s latest tour supported a new album, Where The Light Goes.
The offering, Matchbox Twenty’s first in 11 years, delivers another great batch of real, relevant and relatable songs, including the brilliant lead track Wild Dogs (Running In A Slow Dream).
Thankfully, the Newcastle Weekly didn’t miss a beat, with Anthony Foate sending us these amazing photos from the VIP section in the front row.
But, we’re still trying to work out if he enjoyed that concert a little bit more than Tay Tay’s with his daughters.
Don’t miss a beat on events, and all things happening in Newcastle.
