Maitland City Council’s Administration Centre has won the 2024 Newcastle Architectural Medal for design excellence.

The High Street building was recognised for it” ‘graceful simplicity” and “respect for Maitland’s history and future”.

Competition judges described the structure as “a masterful testament to the principles of architectural harmony, historical continuity, and functional excellence”.

Built between June 2021 and January 2023, the address was designed by council in collaboration with BVN, PTW and EJE, the space was designed for a growing workforce, styled in keeping with the city’s rich history.

Manager building projects and services Todd Stanley says it was an honour to receive the accolade.

“This project was many years in the making and this award is recognition of the hard work from both our team and our partners,” he said.
