A five-bedroom, three-bathroom home in Floraville has set a new benchmark for the highly sought-after suburb, selling at the weekend for $900,000 above the postcode’s previous record.
After entering the market just five weeks before its auction date, 4 Castle Drive managed to catch the eye of five serious bidders, with interest stemming from as far as Perth, Adelaide and regional NSW.
The weekend auction became a battle for ownership in what was a 10-minute exercise, kick-started at $2.1 million and finishing at $2.85 million.
Bids grew in $100,000 increments until the price hit $2.7 million, where it jumped up by $50,000 with each arm raise.
Spillane Property real estate agent Patrick Skinner says the home is worthy of the title of Floraville’s most expensive home.
“The one word that kept being said when people toured the property was ‘special’,” he says.
“From its panoramic views of the coast, to the size of block, it really is a one-of-a-kind.”
The address boasts views of the ocean and bush, with easy access to Lake Macquarie as well.
Its open plan design inside is complimented by its alfresco living outside, and its views, landscaped gardens, cabana and Naked Filtration swimming pool, complete the luxurious feel.
This crisp white home had been a labour-of-love for its (now-former) owners since 2015, when they began lovingly pouring their time and creative talents into modernising it.
After inserting a pool and freshening its colour-scheme, they continued to update bathrooms and bedrooms before deciding it was time to move closer to the city.
The result is a modern, well-finished, timelessly simple stylish home with a bush backdrop, limited neighbours, and spectacular views.
“It is extremely rare for a family-sized home on a large block to become available in Floraville,” says Patrick.
“Last year there were just eight or nine homes for sale in Floraville.
“People who live here don’t want to leave, which is why its a highly-sought after suburb.
“We could be waiting another 10 years for something like to come up.”
4 Castle Drive Floraville sold for $2.85 million to a local family.
