Women rescued after being washed off rocks

SHARE

Two people have been rescued safe and sound after being washed off rocks at Lake Macquarie today.

About noon on Monday 5 July, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service (WRHS) was tasked by NSW Ambulance on a primary mission to Catherine Hill Bay.

On arrival, at the scene, two women were spotted by the crew.

The chopper’s Critical Care paramedic was winched into the water and rescued both females, one at a time.

“It is believed a 21-year-old female was washed off the rocks and a 17-year-old grabbed two inflatable life jackets and jumped in to support the older woman until the helicopter arrived,” a WRHS spokesperson said.

“The helicopter landed nearby and both women were assessed by the Critical Care Medical Team and NSW Ambulance paramedics.

“They are in a stable condition and do not require any further treatment.”
