Variety Bash 2021 to roll in for foreshore fun day

SHARE

More than 100 Bash cars will arrive at Newcastle’s Foreshore Park for a Family Fun Day this weekend, as part of a Variety – Children’s Charity’s event.

The cars are on the return leg of a week-long outback adventure raising funds for the 84-year-old charity.

The family-friendly event will kick-off from 11am on Saturday 22 May.

The cars will be just one of the highlights of the day, with organisers promising something for everyone in the Newcastle community to enjoy.

Entertainment, roving characters, food stalls, fun activities and a live radio broadcast from 2NUR will fill the day until 3pm.

Musician Darren Rolling Keys is set to bring the best of classic rock with familiar tunes to get the party started.

A 9D cinema experience will turn the magic of movies into reality in which the community can “feel what you see” – from rain and wind to snow and bubbles.

Families can purchase a $5 wristband per child to enjoy unlimited inflatables, face painting, airbrush tattoos, balloon twisting and more.

Crafty Street Eats will serve up foods and flavours from around the globe, accompanied by the Variety barbecue trailer serving sausage sandwiches and Lulu’s Gelato.

Variety acting general manager David Small said there would be more than 100 Bash cars arriving at Foreshore Park about noon and everyone was encouraged to check them out and take selfies with their favourite teams.

“It really is something special to see not only the convoy of cars arrive back – all covered in red outback dust – but also the grins of our Bashers having just completed their adventure raising much needed funds for kids in NSW and the ACT,” he said.

“It’s a great chance for everyone to share in the fun of the Variety Bash, especially for local kids who will love the incredible cars that are all decked out with some iconic characters – from Paw Patrol, Star Wars, Minions, Bob the Builder, Lightning McQueen, Scooby Doo and The Flintstones.”

The Variety Family Fun Day will take place at Foreshore Park, Newcastle, on Saturday 22 May from 11am until 3pm.

It is proudly supported by the Australian Hotels Association (AHA) – Newcastle Hunter.
