A teenager was conveyed to John Hunter Hospital after suffering serious leg injuries in a workplace accident at Beresfield on Monday.

Just before 10am on 6 December, personnel at the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service (WRHS) received reports that a large piece of steel had fallen onto a 17-year-old woman.  

Local NSW Ambulance paramedics and emergency services attended the location.

They began treatment prior to the arrival of the chopper and its Critical Care Medical Team.

The young woman was further treated and stabilised by the WRHS staff.

She was then transported by ambulance to Newcastle in a serious but stable condition.
