Homebrew, utes, pumpkins, a demolition derby, petting zoo, amusement rides, fireworks and country music galore – that’s what awaits at one of the state’s best agricultural shows – the Stroud Show – next week.

Located just one hour north of Newcastle, the three-day event will run from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 April.

The 2022 show marks 101 years of showcasing the region’s rich livestock and produce, with family fun boasting an array of entertainment, arts, craft, food and displays.

In fact, the show was recently awarded one of the top 20 agricultural shows in NSW.

Show president James Harris says the annual Stroud Show is about more than livestock.

“The 2022 Stroud Show demonstrates the true feel of what life in our little country town has to offer,” he said.

“I’m incredibly proud of our town and the volunteer committee that runs this event every year.

“We are so excited to be able to allow visitors to enjoy the new three-day format which will be filled with a variety of diverse and interesting exhibits.

“We are only a small town but our locals have massive hearts, ready to welcome and showcase our region to the wider community.”

The 2022 Stroud Show will include some of its most popular exhibits, including the wife carrying contest, homebrew competition, the Ute Show as well as the biggest pumpkin contest.

Visitors are also set to enjoy a demolition derby, fireworks and local country entertainers Jane Denham and Newcastle’s Hurricane Fall.

For the young showgoers there will be entertainment including a reptile petting show, kid’s shows and amusement rides.

In the Show ring, equine enthusiasts can expect more than 700 stallions, colts, mares and fillies competing in their various disciplines of show jumping, hacking, equestrian and show ring.

One of the expected highlights will be show jumping of a six bar final, while in the dog ring crowds will welcome the return of the Stroud All Breeds Championship Dog Show set to ‘stack’ hundreds of dogs from terriers, toys, gundogs to hounds and non-sporting breeds – all vying for Best In Show and judged by interstate conformation judges.

Gates open Friday 22 April. Entry fee is $10 for adults. Entry fee Saturday 23 April is $20 Adults, Sunday 24 April entry is $10 adults. Kids are free all weekend.

Tickets available via Eventbrite or at the gate.
