Raid My Wardrobe makes fashionable return to Newcastle

SHARE

Following a three-year hiatus, Newcastle’s iconic women’s pre-loved fashion event, Raid My Wardrobe, will make a stunning return this weekend.

Like most activities throughout the region, the popular show with a trendy slant was hit hard during the pandemic.

But, it’s back in all its glory on Sunday 27 November at the open warehouse space that’s home to The Movement Collective on Crescent Road, Waratah.

Thirty stalls packed with high-end clothing, shoes, handbags, jewellery and accessories will be made available from 10am until 1pm.

The innovative concept is the brainchild of local Rachel Prest.

Twelve years ago, back in 2010, when she wanted to balance her wardrobe and family life, the Novocastrian was keen to create a shopping option that was healthy for both her wallet and the environment.

“Raid My Wardrobe is about buying and selling pre-loved and vintage pieces right here and now,” Ms Prest explained.

Raid My Wardrobe founder Rachel Prest.

“No fluffing about with purchasing online or with random sizing.

“Try it on. Like it. Buy it and reap the rewards with smart shopping.

“Newcastle women are bursting at the seams to off-load the amazing fashion pieces they have been storing for the past few years – think Tigerlily, Spell, Bec & Bridge, Saba, Tokito, Shieke, Sass & Bide, Kookai and many other labels.

“After 24 months of forced social isolation and online over consumption, now more than ever are community events like Raid My Wardrobe so important.

“It allows us to stay connected to each other and mindful of our spending habits, too.

“This event supports the local economy and reuses valuable clothing resources already in circulation.

“Plus, it is a super fun day out with your besties.

“There’ll be coffee, refreshments and plenty of good vibes.

“Just bring cash.”

Entry to Raid My Wardrobe is $5.
