Lake Mac woman among latest COVID-related deaths

The Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) has tragically recorded another COVID-19 related death after a woman in her 90s from Lake Macquarie passed away.

It comes as the district detected 1,388 new cases overnight.

Seventy-nine people are in hospital with COVID-19, including three in intensive care.

NSW as a whole reported 11,107 new infections and eight deaths – four women and four men aged in their 50s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

Of the six people who died over the age of 65, three people had received three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, one person had received two doses and two people were unvaccinated.

Of the two people who died under the age of 65, one person had received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and the other person had received two doses. Both had significant underlying health conditions.

Aside from the Lake Macquarie loss, five were from Sydney and one was from the Central West.

Across the state there are currently 1,588 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, including 64 people in intensive care, 20 of whom require ventilation.
