HNELHD’s COVID-19 case total rises by 1,376

COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) after 1,376 new infections were reported overnight.

Thankfully, no one passed away in the region.

Across the district 18 people with COVID-19 are receiving care in hospital, two are in ICU.

The case total in NSW is also growing, overall 11,338 new cases were detected in the past 24 hours.

The death toll has also increased after seven men and two women passed away with the virus.

One person was aged in their 30s, one was in their 40s, two were in their 50s, one person was in their 60s, two were in their 70s, one person was in their 80s, and one was in their 90s.

Of the four people who died over the age of 65, one person had received three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, one person had received one dose and two people were not vaccinated.

Of the five people who died under the age of 65, two people had received three doses, one person had received two doses, and two people were not vaccinated. They all had significant underlying health conditions.

There are currently 1,035 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, including 43 people in intensive care, 17 of whom require ventilation.

NSW Health continues to encourage everyone who is eligible to receive a vaccination or their booster dose to book into a NSW Health vaccination clinic or another provider without delay through the COVID-19 vaccine clinic finder.
