Just after noon on 9 June, officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol attempted to stop a Land Rover – that had been reported stolen – travelling on the New England Highway.
When the vehicle continued on its way, a pursuit was initiated and road spikes were deployed.
A short time later, it crashed into a truck travelling on the New England Highway about 12.20pm.
The two occupants of the Land Rover – a 16-year-old female and 17-year-old male – were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
They are both in a stable condition.
The driver of the truck – a 51-year-old man – was uninjured, and was taken to Muswellbrook District Hospital for mandatory testing.
