Friday Chill returns to Newcastle in 2024

SHARE

“Friday” – the day of the week before Saturday and following Thursday, often the final working day of the week.

“Chill” – very relaxed, easy-going vibe.

Friday Chill is returning to Newcastle’s Pacific Park on Friday 12 January.

The two-hour free community event is expected to grace the city’s calendar weekly until 22 March, promising chilled out tunes, family-friendly entertainment, food trucks and space for a picnic rug or two.

The gathering is the brainchild of the crew behind Soul Hub, a Newcastle-based charity dedicated to helping the city’s most vulnerable.

Between 6.30pm and 8.30pm, the east end park is set to be transformed into a feel-good community picnic space.

Friday Chill returns to Newcastle this summer.

“It’s all about Soul giving a little something back to the community that supports us so well,” a Soul Hub representative said.

“Friday Chill has been a staple of the Newcastle calendar for the past decade and its audience has grown in size every year allowing us to activate Pacific Park for thousands.

“Friday Chill’s audience consists of families and locals who roll out a picnic rug and enjoy the serenity and good vibes of Friday Chill. It can see 500-800 people attend each week.”

The list of entertainers planned for 2024 Friday Chill includes a selection hand-picked “high class local musos and bands”, say organisers.

“With a new band taking the stage each week.

“Soul Hub invites our friends and community to come along and join us for a picnic in the park.

“Bring your own picnic food and beverages or take advantage of the gourmet food served by a selection of local food vendors.”

Friday Chill is sponsored by Presence Real Estate, Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group and NinthLabs.
