SHARE

COVID-19 shows no signs of abating, with the Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) detecting 12 new cases overnight.

It takes the total number in the current outbreak to 4,359, with 268 still active.

The Newcastle LGA uncovered a further five infections, with two each at New Lambton Heights and Tighes Hill, and another at Jesmond.

One case appeared in the Lake Macquarie and Maitland LGAs, too, this time at Belmont North and Metford respectively.

Outside the Hunter, the Mid-Coast LGA registered three, with one apiece in the Moree Plains and Tamworth Regional LGAs.

Eight are linked, five were infectious in the community and two remain under investigation.

One person is currently being cared for in ICU.

Meanwhile, NSW recorded 325 new locally-acquired cases as of 8pm on Friday 3 December.

There is now a total of 13 infections of COVID-19 with the Omicron variant in NSW – and results on further likely cases are due later today.

All travellers arriving in NSW who have been in South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini and Malawi during the 14-day period before their arrival must enter hotel quarantine for 14 days, irrespective of their vaccination status.

Anyone who has already arrived in NSW who has been in any of the eight African countries within the previous 14 days must immediately get tested and isolate for 14 days, and call NSW Health on 1800 943 553.

All passengers must monitor for symptoms and if any occur, get tested again.

Sadly, NSW Health reported the death of a woman in her 50s from south-western Sydney who died at Liverpool Hospital.

She had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and had underlying health conditions.

If you need to get tested for COVID-19 there are more than 450 clinics open across NSW.
