SHARE

Alone time, a hot bath, and the opportunity to relax and unwind = a parent’s dream. For some extra pampering, why not add in some lovely smelling bath bombs. A simple project you can do easily with the kids, these also make a great Mother’s Day gift.

DIY citrus bath bombs

Makes 5 round 100g bath bombs. Recipe created by Biome Eco Stores. Shop eco-friendly products and DIY skin care ingredients online at www.biome.com.au

Ingredients

Method

In a mortar and pestle or coffee grinder, grind the dried calendula petals down to a smooth, silky powder.

Mix dry ingredients together in a glass bowl until combined.

Slowly add the castor oil followed by the essential oils. Mix and squeeze together with your hands until it resembles damp sand.

Divide the mixture into 5 equal portions and roll each portion into a tight ball. You may like to roll some whole calendula petals into the ball to decorate (like pictured).

Let them set overnight, and air dry for another 24 hours after that.

How to use

Run a warm bath and drop one in. It should fizz and release a beautiful uplifting aroma. Take care leaving the bath or shower as it may be slippery.

Store in a sealed glass jar out of direct sunlight.

It’s best to make bath bombs in small regular batches and use within a month rather than storing them long term as certain temperatures and humidity can affect their fizz quality.

No bath? No worries. Biome also has a DIY recipe available online for an energising shower bomb for mental clarity.
