SHARE

Skateboarders in Lake Macquarie have the chance to put their skills on show thanks to a new online competition.

In collaboration with the Australian Skateboarding Community Initiative, Lake Macquarie City Council is hosting the event.

The rules are simple, skateboarders can upload up to five videos that feature their best tricks. From kick flips to ollies or any flat ground trick that shows off individual style.

For skaters, the competition is a chance to show off individual abilities and compete against other skaters to claim the competition crown.

Participants will have one month to enter commencing this Friday 26 June.

When locals sign up they will be slotted into age divisions with a winner picked from each group.

The videos will be judged by professional skateboarders, Tommy Fynn, Aimee Massie and Beau Hinge.

Lake Macquarie City Council’s Manager Arts, Culture and Tourism Jacqui Hemsley is excited to see what Lake Mac’s young people come up with.

“This is a going to be a great competition, we have a big skating community and I’m sure we will have many quality entrants,” she said.

“The judges at ASCI will have their work cut out for them, it will be exciting to see some of the tricks that get submitted.”

Prizes of up to $100 in cash will be available for the opens winners as well as vouchers for the junior winners. To find out more or to register head to the competition website.
