A Cessnock woman screamed so loudly when an official from The Lott called her this morning with the news she became an overnight Monday Lotto millionaire that she lost her voice.
The Hunter winner held the only division one winning entry in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4074, drawn Monday 3 May.
The boisterous player takes home a prize of $1 million.
When an official from The Lott called the unsuspecting winner on Tuesday 4 May, she was still in bed and had no idea she’d become an overnight millionaire.
“Are you joking? Holy. I can’t think right now,” she laughed.
“Oh my god. Holy sh**! I need to sit down; I think I might fall over from this shock.
“Are you sure you’re not having me on? You sound exactly like my friend.
“I can’t believe I have won $1 million.
“Oh my goodness. I never thought I would be a millionaire.
“I was half asleep but I am wide awake now.
“I am so stunned.
“I’ve been playing these numbers for years. I never thought this would happen to me.”
She then admitted she would “do bugger all today”.
“I’m going to sit back, put my feet up and relax,” she added.
“My husband says we can celebrate by mowing the grass, but there’s no way I am doing that.
“I want breakfast in bed, thanks.
“I screamed so loudly when you told me I won that I have lost my voice.
“I am just so, so excited.”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her prize, the elated winner said she never thought she’d be contemplating what to do with $1 million.
“I would love to do some travelling around Australia,” she declared.
“And, I’ll have no problem going on a few shopping sprees.”
Her winning marked 12-game entry was purchased at Cessnock Plaza News & Gifts, Shop 16-17 Cessnock Plaza, 1 Keene Street.
Cessnock Plaza News & Gifts owner Sarah Pascoe said she was thrilled to have made one of her customers an overnight millionaire.
“How exciting,” she exclaimed.
“What a great week for our winner. I am sure she’s feeling very lucky.
“All of our customers will be so happy for us and our winner and hoping that they’re next.
“We haven’t sold a major prize in a little while, so it’s exhilarating.
“We are ecstatic for our winner and we hope it brings a smile to her face.
“It’s such an exciting time and, even though I haven’t personally won, it’s such a thrill to be part of this moment.
“The whole team was thrilled when they heard the news this morning.”
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4047 on Monday 3 May were 16, 28, 21, 32, 3 and 34, while the supplementary numbers were 39 and 1.
