Branxton woman stunned after bagging $63,000 Keno win

The Hunter could be deemed the “luckiest region” in NSW at the moment after securing its second major sweepstakes windfall in the space of 24 hours.

A Branxton woman has confessed she struggled to sleep following her $63,000 Keno win at the weekend.

Then, the next day, an Anna Bay mum captured a whopping $33.04 million in the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot 10725, drawn on Monday 24 October.

But, the local resident, who held a Keno Classic 8 Spot winning entry on Sunday, admitted she was still in shock, taking home a total of $63,296.70.

“Yee haw! How good is that?” she yelled when confirming her win with an official from Keno.

“I am sitting on cloud nine, mate.

“I tried going to sleep last night, but adrenaline was coursing through me after realising I’d won.

“The numbers had come up – and I’d just screamed with happiness.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do yet.

“So many things are racing through my mind.

“I’ll start with some renovations, but then who knows?

“It’s just amazing that this has happened to me.”

Her winning entry was purchased at the Huntlee Tavern in the Hunter’s newest suburb, Huntlee.

Huntlee Tavern manager Blake Hampton said there was an air of excitement around the area knowing that a member of the community had won a major prize.

“It’s one of the biggest Keno wins we’ve seen for a while so it’s very exciting,” he explained.

“Everyone is in a state of shock that it happened here.

“But, we’re also so excited for our winner.

“We want to wish them a big congratulations and all the best for the future.”

In the 2021/22 financial year, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 62.2 million wins collectively worth more than $896.7 million.

During this time, Keno crowned 19 millionaires and multi-millionaires who took home more than $30.7 million.

Seven of these major winners were from New South Wales and the ACT, including a Sydneysider who picked up $3.1 million on Boxing Day while holidaying in Lake Macquarie.
