Big month ahead for Hunter Business Women’s Network

The Hunter Business Women’s Network (HWBN) is gearing up for a big month, with two special events planned to interest members and guests.

The organisation, dedicated to delivering a highly-inclusive and supportive connection for businesswomen throughout the region, will stage a dinner at Noah’s on the Beach on Wednesday 11 October from 5.30pm.

The featured speaker on this occasion is marketing agency pepperit co-founder Nicole Shelley.

She’s also the owner and publisher of NEW Magazine and the Newcastle Weekly, which has been a staple of the community since 2015.

After its shock closure in May 2022, the Novocastrian showed faith in the publication, turning it into a now 100% locally-owned, operated and produced periodical.

“Fast forward a little over 12 months, since it relaunched, and the Newcastle Weekly has enjoyed exponential growth across both its print and digital platforms,” Hunter Business Women’s Network president Kristina Bircsak said.

“Nicole is the unlikely publisher, with a CV that spans across many diverse industries from mining manufacturing, port management, to a top tier global law firm.

“All of this served as a training ground before co-founding and running an award-winning marketing agency, and then adding two publications to her bow.

“Nicole will share her story of resilience, putting your hand up to give it a go, and giving back to the community.”

Tickets to the event, which includes a two-course dinner and drink on arrival, cost $70 (members) and $80 (non-members).

The HBWN will then stage a breakfast in The Pavilion Room at the Newcastle Racecourse on Friday 27 October, from 7am until 9am.

The theme centres around “How To Elevate Your Business Marketing with AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ChatGPT”.

“This is a great chance to not only enjoy a delicious breakfast, but it’s an opportunity to network with fellow Hunter Business Women’s Network members,” Ms Bircsak said.

“At the same time, you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of AI and its application in marketing.

“The talk will be exclusively presented to us by international expert authority business coach, and proud HBWN member, Christine Blosdale.

“With 25-plus years in media, she specialises in getting women-in-business the attention they deserve through a variety of sources including podcasting, radio, television and print publications.

“Her dynamic approach is heralded as ‘mind-blowing, simple to understand and fun’.

“Attendees can expect to be introduced to the world of AI-powered marketing; learn how to use the power of AI to generate riveting marketing content to propel your business; and discover ways to develop engaging blog posts, social media updates, viral videos and even books and e-books.”

The cost is $20 per person (members only).

HBWN recently unveiled its main speaker for its International Women’s Day function at NEX on 6 March, ex-Olympic golden girl Lisa Curry.
