Here is your Seniors’ living guide to some of the best aged care facilities and services across the Hunter Region.

HOME INSTEAD

After a challenging year for many, people are in need of love, care and companionship more than ever. Australia’s dedicated aged care workers have worked tirelessly, going above and beyond to support vulnerable members of the community in these difficult times.

Samantha is a highly valued member of the Home Instead Central Coast and Newcastle team.  She has worked as a Caregiver for two years, completing many hours of service and making an incredible impact on the lives of her clients and this is why she was recently announced as the Caregiver of the Year Australia 2021.

“Delivering quality services day in and out for my clients is really important to me,” Samantha says.

“I love making a difference in my clients’ and their families’ lives and I do this by showing respect, compassion and team work to achieve their goals, no matter how big or small. It is about striving to provide the highest level of care to those that need it most.”

INGENIA LIFESTYLE

Downsizers are staying local with Ingenia Lifestyle Sunnylake Shores reporting nearly 65% of residents moved from within a 50-kilometre radius.

Jenni Spencer, Community Sales Manager at the Halekulani community, said it was common for people to put off downsizing because they cannot find suitable housing in their local area, particularly with water views.

“Downsizers want to be able to free up home equity and enjoy a new, more relaxed lifestyle – by staying local they don’t have to start this chapter of their lives again,” Jenni said.

BLUEHEATH AT THE BOWER

Works on Blueheath at The Bower, Medowie’s newest seniors’ development, are progressing well with construction of the resort-style clubhouse, accompanied by a wellness centre and indoor heated pool now underway.

Interest in the development has been extremely high with the majority of homes released in stage one almost sold out and deposits being taken on stage two.

Village and Sales Manager David Kelly says downsizers like the proximity to The Bower residential estate as well as the spacious architect designed homes and high-quality finishes.

Interior designer Angelique Perek, developed the designs for the home interiors.

“We wanted these homes to be very livable and include practical touches like soft close kitchen drawers and doors, floor to ceiling tiles in the bathroom, and easy access showers,” she said.

“However it was also essential to create beautiful and elegant homes – a home to be proud of with custom cabinetry, stone benchtops, and contemporary colour schemes,” she said.

David Kelly added the stylish home designs with top-quality finishes give retirees the opportunity to downsize without compromise.

“Of course, a move to Blueheath isn’t just about the bricks and mortar – our magnificent clubhouse, the facilities available and our scenic location offer the retirement lifestyle many retirees are seeking in a warm, vibrant community” he said.
