A man has been charged with traffic and firearms offences following a vehicle search at Raymond Terrace on Monday.
About 9.50am on 24 July, officers from Traffic and Highway Police Area Command were patrolling the region when they observed a car travelling on Irrawang Street.
The driver of the vehicle then stopped in a driveway before running away.
A subsequent search allegedly revealed a firearm.
Following inquiries, a 37-year-old man was arrested at a home on Glenelg Street, Raymond Terrace, a short time later.
He was taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station, where he was charged with possess unauthorised pistol, acquire etc pistol-subject to firearms prohibition order, and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.
He was refused bail to appear before Raymond Terrace Local Court on Tuesday 25 July.
