Newcastle’s King Edward Park will be transformed into ‘wily, windy moors’ next month as scores of Kate Bush fans turn out to celebrate one of the UK pop star’s most iconic songs.

The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever, will see revellers don their finest red frocks and recreate the iconic choreography from Bush’s 1978 hit Wuthering Heights.

The quirky community event is now in its tenth year and is part of a global celebration that was kicked off in 2013 by British performance collective Shambush.

The Newcastle iteration has become a much-loved tradition, and participants of all ages and experience levels are invited to don the red dress and embrace a day of theatrical fun.

Despite being a day of music, whimsy, and joy, the gathering will also be raising money for a great cause.

This year, the event will be supporting Warlga Ngurra Women’s and Children’s Refuge, with donations welcomed on the day.

Participants will gather from 11.30am on Sunday 2 August for warm-ups, a walkthrough of the famous dance moves and a practice run before the main performance gets underway at 12.30pm.

In the event of rain, the day will be rescheduled for Sunday, 9 August and an alternative wet weather venue will be organised in case inclement weather continues.

If you want to get up to speed early, organisers are hosting a rehearsal at King Edward Park this Sunday 26 July.

The iconic song was released by Kate Bush back in 1978, when she was just 19 years old.

It retells the gothic romance of Catherine and Heathcliff from Emily Brontë’s 1847 novel, most recently writ large on the big screen with steamy performances from Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi.
