Despite a short week, due to the Anzac Day public holiday, construction resumes on the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace.
As a result, southbound traffic will be diverted onto the M1 at the intersection of John Renshaw Drive and M1/Weakleys Drive on the nights of Thursday 30 April and Friday 1 May – between 7pm and 5am -while the project team undertakes asphalt work.
During this time, there’s no access to Lenaghans Drive from the southbound lanes of the M1.
Work continues across the rest of the venture from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday; 8am to 5pm on Saturday; and from 8pm to 5am Monday to Friday, too.
It’ll require lane closures and contraflow with intermittent stoppages and temporary speed reductions to 40km/h at the following locations and times:
From 8pm to 5am, on the nights of Tuesday 28 April until Friday 1 May
- M1 Pacific Motorway at Beresfield and Black Hill
- John Renshaw Drive at Beresfield
- New England Highway at Tarro
- Pacific Highway at Tomago and Heatherbrae
From 8am to 5pm, Tuesday 28 April until Friday 1 May
- Lenaghans Drive at Black Hill
- Old Punt Road near Pacific Highway at Tomago
- New England Highway Eastbound at Tarro
Operators of Over-Size Over-Mass (OSOM) vehicles with a ground contact wider than 3.2 metres or with overall width greater than 4.5 metres are advised to contact the project team on 1800 094 895 at least one day ahead of proposed movement.
Significant delays can occur if they fail to do so.
Maison Dieu Road, Singleton
Motorists are also advised of changed traffic conditions from this week for construction activities on Maison Dieu Road as part of the Singleton Bypass.
Transport for NSW (TfNSW) has started carrying out essential work on that stretch of thoroughfare, which is expected to be complete by late September, weather permitting.
That means Maison Dieu Road will be closed to all traffic, both day and night during this time.
A detour is slated, via Magpie Street, for every vehicle, which will add about five minutes to travel time.
The closure will allow work to connect the road to the bypass.
VMS and traffic signs are set to be in place to advise motorists of the changed traffic conditions.
Pedestrian and cyclist access will remain open throughout the closure.
Motorists are advised to drive to conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.

Newcastle Inner City Bypass and Newcastle Road, Jesmond
There are changed traffic conditions on the Newcastle Road eastbound on-ramp, connecting to the northbound lanes of the Newcastle Inner City Bypass, at Jesmond.
Work is being carried out as part of the Rankin Park to Jesmond section of the Newcastle Inner City Bypass project to install traffic control signals.
To minimise impact to motorists, it’ll take place at night – between 7pm and 5am – on Tuesday 28 April and Wednesday 29 April, and between Sunday 3 May and Tuesday 5 May.
During the work, the northbound on-ramp from Newcastle Road eastbound onto the Newcastle Inner City Bypass will be closed, with detours in place:
Light vehicles will be detoured north via Blue Gum Road and east along University Drive to rejoin Newcastle Inner City Bypass
Heavy vehicles under notice will be detoured eastbound along Newcastle Road and turn north onto Lambton Road, continue north via Edith Street and Lorna Street, then west along University Drive to rejoin Newcastle Inner City Bypass
OSOM operations that are unable to take alternative routes are advised to contact the project team at least one day ahead of movement on 1800 818 433.
On arrival, they must park on the shoulder of Newcastle Road between The Crescent and Drury Street and useUHF channel 29 for assistance through the work site.
