A woman has been airlifted to John Hunter Hospital following a horse-riding accident near Cessnock this afternoon.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service (WRHS) was tasked by NSW Ambulance on a primary mission to a property at Quorrobolong about 3.15pm on Saturday 17 April.

It is believed the female, aged in her 50s, sustained a head injury.

“The patient was treated at the scene by paramedics and the helicopter’s critical care medical team prior to being transported to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment,” a WRHS spokesperson said.

“The latest update indicated she was in a stable condition.”
