Woman dies in two-vehicle crash on Golden Highway


In tragic circumstances, a woman died in a two-vehicle crash on the Golden Highway, in the Upper Hunter, on Saturday morning.

About 10am on 11 December, emergency services were called to Wyoming Road, Cassilis – about 30km south-west of Merriwa – following reports a Hyundai SUV travelling west and a Toyota Landcruiser travelling east had collided.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the female driver and sole occupant of the Hyundai.

Sadly, she died at the scene.

A 63-year-old man, the driver and sole occupant of the Landcruiser, was treated by paramedics and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service’s Critical Care Medical team.

It is understood he sustained serious back injuries.

He was then airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District attended and established a crime scene, which will be forensically examined.
