An 18-year-old woman has died following a quad bike crash in the Hunter Valley.

Emergency services were called to Quince Tree Lane at Congewai, about 18 kilometres south of Cessnock, shortly after 10am on Sunday 26 July.

Officers from the Hunter Valley Police District were told an 18-year-old man had been riding the quad bike when it rolled.

The woman, who was travelling as a passenger, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated her at the scene, but she could not be revived.

The rider was taken to Cessnock Hospital for mandatory testing.

Police established a crime scene, with specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit attending to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash and the woman’s death.

Investigations are continuing and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
