Woman charged following Metford stabbing overnight

A 46-year-old woman has been refused bail after being charged over an alleged stabbing, which injured two people, at Metford on Saturday night.

Emergency services were called to Hakea Way about 9.50pm on 5 August.

It followed reports of a brawl.

A man, 46, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for chest wounds and taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

A 50-year-old woman was also treated for an injury to her hand.

Like the wounded male, she was conveyed to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District established a crime scene.

They began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A 46-year-old woman was then arrested at the scene and was taken to Maitland Police Station.

She’s now been charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The female was refused bail and appeared in Newcastle Bail Court on Sunday morning 6 August.

After being refused bail, she’ll next appear in Maitland Local Court on Monday 7 August.
