Windale Public School is in “party mode” after securing a prestigious national honour.
The Hunter educational facility has shown it leads the way in helping children learn through play, courtesy of an award-winning outdoor learning area.
And, principal Cindy Sadler expressed her delight.
“To win the Kidsafe National Playsafe Design Award for Preschools for 2020, with our stimulating environment incorporating natural materials that promote open-ended opportunities for creative play, is wonderful,” she said.
“The preschool outdoor learning hub is a celebration of the partnerships our school has formed with our pupils and their families, Minimbah AECG, Charlestown MP Jodie Harrison and Andrew Smith Timber Creations.
“Our families wanted their children to have more space to play and explore interacting with the natural environment.
“The possibilities are now endless for our youngsters – and are only limited by their own imagination.”
The school celebrated its award on Tuesday, 24 November at a renaming ceremony for the preschool to “Nubalin”, which is an Awabakal word that means learning, acknowledging the important role of culture within every child.
