Music superstar Pink once asked everyone to Get the Party Started.
And, that’s what Newcastle intends to do.
Hot on the heels of the weekend’s open-air disco at Wheeler Place, and in readiness for much-loved performer’s show at McDonald Jones Stadium on Tuesday 13 February, the Pink Party Trail continues with footpath stickers guiding partygoers to participating venues in the CBD to win one of five double corporate tickets to the Summer Carnival Tour.
Spend $50 or more at Customs House Hotel, The Lucky Hotel, The Happy Wombat, Rundle Tailoring, Foghorn Brewery, Mercure Newcastle, The Press Coffee and Book House, Quest Newcastle West, Quest Newcastle, Blue Kahunas, Bar Mellow, The Great Northern Hotel Crown on Darby, Crystalbrook, Noahs on the Beach, QT Rooftop Bar and Bernies Bar – and you’ll go into the draw.
An exclusive event at Wheeler Place, between 7pm and 9pm on Tuesday 13 February, will also ensure no one misses out.
All businesses in the city are urged to “paint the town pink”, too.
“Welcoming Pink’s Summer Carnival Tour to Newcastle is a tremendous opportunity,” Newcastle Tourism Industry Group (NTIG) chair Michael Stamboulidis said.
“Hosting a major act of this calibre not only brings a wave of excitement and cultural richness but also translates into significant economic benefits for the region.
“Events like these attract visitors, stimulate local businesses and contribute to the overall growth of our community.
“It’s a fantastic occasion to showcase Newcastle’s hospitality and vibrant spirit to a diverse audience, establishing our city as a premier destination for entertainment and cultural experiences.”
Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes admitted large world-class concerts were not just a win for “live” music fans but had a transformative impact across the city.
“After the success of Sir Elton John and Sir Paul McCartney’s shows, Pink’s another major boost for Newcastle, injecting a projected $9 million into the local economy through hotel stays, retail spend and dining out,” she said.
“I urge everyone to head into the city centre to get the party started early on the Pink Party Trail, which is a fantastic initiative being delivered by NTIG with funding support from City of Newcastle’s City Centre and Darby Street Special Business Rate program.”
