That’s Easter wrapped up for another year and long weekend visitors have headed home.

We still have a plethora of activities on offer across our region and most of them don’t care about the weather forecast!

FRIDAY 14 April

Friday Night Feast: The Station, Newcastle. 4.30pm-8.30pm. Food trucks, live music, stalls, FREE, dog-friendly, family-friendly.

Make it Maitland – Let’s Roller Skate: Maitland Regional Athletics Centre. Friday 5pm-9pm. Saturday noon-9pm, Sunday 10am-3pm. $5. roller rink, live music, food trucks, performers.

Maitland’s True Crime Tour: Maitland Railway Station (Station Street side). 7.30pm-9pm.


Sailfest Newcastle Regatta: Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club. 10am-6pm. Free Try Sailing for kids aged 7-12 at Honeysuckle, between Rydges and Honeysuckle Hotel from 9am to 12pm. The Cock of the Harbour race at 2pm from Stockton to Dyke Point, the Queens Wharf Hotel, and the Pilot Station. 

Hot Potato Band Children’s Concert: Rathmines Theatre, nawayiba. 11am- 11.45am and 1pm-1.45pm.

Pits and Pubs of West Wallsend Area with Ed Tonks: 10:30am-11:30am. Sugar Valley Library Museum, kirantakamyari.

Pooches Picnic: Saddler’s Creek Wines. Noon. Live music, food vans, prizes.

Streets Alive – Cardiff: Veronica Street, Cardiff. 4.30-8.30pm. Live music, stalls, street food, entertainment.

SUNDAY 16 April

Newcastle Marathon and 1/2 Marathon: Part of City of Newcastle Running Festival. Meet at Market Street lawn for 4 X 10.5km loops around the City and Newcastle Harbour. 6am-noon.

Mailrun Charity Bike Ride: Singleton Catholic School, Combo Lane. From 7am. Distances 100km, 60km, 45km or 27km. Proceeds to Singleton Family Support.

Lake Macquarie Kids Day Out: 9am-4pm. Speers Point Park. Market stalls, petting zoo, arts and craft.
