If you had three wishes that you had to use on improving Singleton, what would you wish for?
That’s essentially what Singleton mayor Sue Moore is asking.
Although 2035 may seem a long time away, residents, businesses and community groups of the township are being encouraged to help shape the future needs of the town with an oversized sundial as part of a review of the Singleton 10-year Community Strategic Plan.
A review takes place at each new term of council.
And, this time, council, state government agencies, community groups, non-government organisations, businesses and individuals are making sure they’re “on the same page” when it comes to community priorities.
The document is prepared as a reference tool, playing a part in building Singleton’s ideal future.

Cr Moore says everyone is invited to share their thoughts on the Singleton LGA heading into the next decade.
“The review of our Community Strategic Plan, Create Singleton 2035, represents the highest level of planning we undertake in local government – it’s a shared community vision that will inform Council’s actions for the next 10 years and beyond,” she said.
“In 2021 our community told us their priority was for a strengthened focus on ‘local’, through infrastructure such as shared pathways and bike tracks, shopping, events and entertainment, which council set about delivering through tangible actions via our four-year delivery program and one-year operational plans.
“We know there will be a lot of impacts on our community in the years to come, including the evolution of Singleton’s industries and economy, not to mention the construction of the Singleton bypass.
“This is the ideal time to consider what we want for Singleton in 2035 and what can be delivered at a local level.”
Cr Moore said being involved in Create Singleton 2035 was the best way for people of all ages to help set the vision and direction for Singleton for the next 10 years, and everyone’s insights were valuable.
“From now until 16 August, there’s plenty of opportunities to be part of the discussion, whether it’s face-to-face at one of our pop-up stalls, at one of our workshops, or at other community events,” she explained.
“People can also post their thoughts on the ideas wall in the library or take part in the simple online survey for a chance to win a Spend in Singleton gift card.”
