A new webinar is set to unpack the social media and digital world for parents and carers across the Hunter.
Hosted by headspace Newcastle, the educational online program will feature social media expert and Chief Executive of Safe on Social Kirra Pendergast.
Through her work, Kirra’s passion and purpose is to help educate people and organisations about the law, reducing risk, safety, and privacy when online or using social media.
Clinical psychologist and headspace Newcastle service manager, Dr Stephen Hirneth, said the workshop was created in response to a growing number of enquiries from parents and carers looking to learn more about the safe use of social media.
“We are getting more enquiries about social media from parents and carers in the community, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, with people spending a lot more time online,” he said.
“The Safe on Social Webinar is a great opportunity for parents and carers to hear from one of Australia’s experts in this area.”
The webinar will go from 7pm to 8.30pm on Tuesday 11 August on video conferencing platform Zoom.
Interested parents and carers are encouraged to RSVP via Eventbrite to receive access to the webinar.
