Wanted Cessnock man arrested in Nelson Bay

A Cessnock man will face court today after being arrested in Nelson Bay in a stolen car.

At about 6.30pm yesterday Nelson Bay Police were called to a home in Coventry Place, Nelson Bay after the resident found a man parked in his driveway asleep at the wheel.

Upon arrival, police discovered the vehicle he was a asleep in, an Audi 2009 model TT, had earlier been reported stolen from a Mount Vincent address.

Police woke the 26-year-old man and after taking his details it was established that he was wanted on several outstanding warrants.

A search of the vehicle revealed property that police will allege is connected to other matters currently being investigated.

The man was arrested and charged with warrant offences, take and drive motor vehicle without permission, and drive whilst being a disqualified driver.

He was refused bail by police to appear before Raymond Terrace Local Court today.
