Bargain hunters can once again rejoice, as a new-look Vinnies shop opens its doors in Belmont North on Monday.
The new store, located on the corner of Pacific Highway and Wommara Avenue, is the 23rd Vinnies shop based in the Maitland-Newcastle region.
Sitting on a 200 square metre site, Vinnies North Belmont is full of pre-loved treasures and clothing.
“Vinnies is a beloved retail institution throughout Australia, offering a unique shopping experience where customers can find something they weren’t even looking for and give it a second life,” Vinnies retail area manager Bradley Grieve said.
“We have a wide range of clothing, homewares, furniture, books, toys and much more just waiting to be discovered.”
Aside from offering new life to preloved items, Vinnies shoppers also offer a financial lifeline to community members in need.
“The funds raised from Vinnies Shops play a vital role in supporting people experiencing hardship in the local and wider community,” Mr Grieve said.
“In the last year, Vinnies members in Belmont, Charlestown, Swansea and neighbouring suburbs supported 969 people with $208,000 in financial and material assistance.
“A big reason why we’re able to support so many people is because of the sales from Vinnies Shops.”
But, they can’t do this alone.
“We’re always on the lookout for people wanting to give a few hours of their time each week to volunteer,” he added.

This year marks the centenary of Vinnies Shops in NSW.
Following the opening of the first shop in Newtown in 1922, the St Vincent de Paul Society has grown into one of the most recognisable retail brands in Australia with a network of more than 220 Vinnies Shops throughout the state.
Vinnies North Belmont is among the first in the state to feature redesigned artwork coinciding with the centenary of Vinnies Shops in NSW.
It will start trading to the public on Monday 28 February. The shop will be open Monday to Saturday from 9am until 4pm.
