Each entry took home a division one prize worth $2.5 million.

Rutherford couple upgrade Valentine’s Day plans

A Rutherford couple’s plans to spend their Valentine’s Day working in the garden have been happily disrupted by the discovery of their $2.5 million Saturday Lotto win.

“Hang on a second – are you telling us we’ve won division one? That we’re multi-millionaires now?” the winning husband questioned when speaking with an official from The Lott.

“Are you kidding me? Oh my god! Oh my god!

“My wife has just collapsed into a puddle of happy tears.

“Happy Valentine’s Day to us! Holy sh**! This is absolutely amazing.

“We’ve been dreaming of this moment.

“It changes everything for us.

“We were just talking about the fact we wouldn’t be able to retire for years, but now, it looks like we can retire a lot earlier than planned.

“We’ll pay off our mortgage first, and then we’ll go and buy ourselves a caravan.

“My wife wants to retire and just travel around the country, so that’s what we’ll do.

“I was going to go out and mow the lawn this morning, and my wife was going to do some gardening, but maybe we’ll pay someone to do that now.

“Instead, we’ll upgrade our plans and go somewhere really fancy to celebrate this win, and enjoy Valentine’s Day.

“After that, we might go shopping for a caravan and start planning our big adventure.”

Their winning marked System 9 entry was purchased online at – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.

Check your tickets, Edgeworth: You could be a multi-millionaire

An Edgeworth resident or visitor has started the week as a multi-millionaire after scoring division one in the weekend’s Lotto draw – they just don’t know it yet.

The winning entry is unregistered, which means officials from The Lott have no way of contacting the winner to break the life-changing news.

Instead, they’re waiting for the ticketholder to come forward to claim their prize.

The winning entry was purchased at Edgeworth Newsxpress, Shop 9 720 Main Road, Edgeworth.

Owners Kaite and Jo Atkinson said they were eager to unite their winner with the multi-million-dollar prize.

“It’s unbelievable! It’s amazing to know we’ve helped make someone $2.5 million richer!” Kaite said.

“We’ll be celebrating this win with a bottle of champagne and be sharing the news with all our customers in the hopes we find our mystery winner.

“Our customers are over the moon for the winner – whoever they may be.

“We took ownership of this outlet about three years ago and this is the first time we’ve had a division one win in Lotto. It’s also the biggest win we’ve had,” Jo added.

“It’s a big moment for us, so we’re very excited.

“We hope our winner comes forward soon and they enjoy their prize.

“We’re ecstatic to have made someone in Edgeworth a multi-millionaire.”

The Lott spokesperson Ally Ramsamy said she was eager to unite Newcastle’s latest division one winner with their prize.

“We’re urging all players who purchased a Lotto ticket from Edgeworth Newsxpress to check their tickets today,” she explained.

“If you discover you are holding the winning ticket, contact The Lott on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize.”

The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4233 on 12 February were 35, 36, 13, 43, 37 and 42, while the supplementary numbers were 15 and 5.
