SHARE

The Hunter New England Local Heath District (HNELHD) has recorded another 12 cases of COVID-19 overnight.

Locally, the Newcastle LGA detected one in Mayfield while Singleton also made the list with one infection.

The remaining discoveries are in the Moree Plains (six) and Mid Coast (four) LGAs.

Ten of the cases are linked to known exposures or clusters and two are unlinked while seven were infectious in the community.

In the district there are currently 197 active cases with one person requiring care in hospital.

It comes as cases across the state continue to rise with 403 new infections detected overnight.

There is now a total of 34 people with the Omicron variant but, to date, none of these cases have been admitted to hospital.

Sadly, NSW Health has also reported the death of a man in his 80s at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital.

He had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and had underlying health conditions.

There are currently 151 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 25 people in intensive care, seven of whom require ventilation.

Across NSW, 92.9 per cent of people aged 16 and over are double jabbed while 77.3 per cent of children aged 12 to 15 have received both doses.

If you need to get tested for COVID-19 there are more than 450 clinics open across NSW.
